Synopsis

When shifters Aleco and Pedro find their world torn in two, they have to stick together, fight together and be as one in a way they never have before.

For Aleco the pieces of his happiness jigsaw have finally fallen into place. With his son Neo now content with a new mate, it’s time for him to celebrate with the two people he loves and desires most in the world.

But little does Aleco know that waiting for him and Pedro is the worst news of all. The third in their relationship is missing, vanished without a trace. There one minute, gone the next.

In their frantic dash to find her, a desperate passion is fuelled, and their emotions collide with fiery consequences. Taking solace in each other is all they can do.

But will they find her? And why has she left them? The only thing left is to keep hunting for the answers and following her trail.

Sue’s Book Brief

3.75 Stars

This series of short stories by Lily Harlem is set in California and features a pack of canine shifters. Their home is deep within the forest, although they do travel to nearby towns for provisions. The cover for Finding Home appears to feature three wolves and once during the story Aleco refers to himself as a wolf. The rest of the time the shifters are described as dogs, so don’t expect to read about wolf shifters, even the enemy pack are all dogs.

Anyway, Finding Home is the second story in the Redwood Shifter series. There'll be a set of six books when it is complete, with M/M, M/M/M, and M/M/F storylines.  Finding Home is one of the M/M/F stories, but features mostly M/M erotic scenes. The final love-making and penetrative scene involves all three characters in the relationship.

Julie, the wife of Aleco and Pedro, doesn’t feature much in the story as she has gone missing. Once the two men realise, they begin a frantic search for her. Lily has written many other M/M/F stories and she portrays triad love and the apprehension these men feel about losing their third mate very well. Aleco and Pedro predominantly appear in the story and, although their love and lust for each other is strong, they are clearly incomplete without their third. They fear Julie has left them at first and are prepared to fight for her.

Finding Home can be read as a standalone, but Book #1 introduces Aleco and his pack. This story continues straight on from this book, but apart from Aleco being happy that his son has found his mate, Neo and Jude do not feature in this story. I was hoping to hear more about them.

As with Book #1 Finding Home is a well-written and engaging story. Being a little over 16K the overall plot is swiftly told and resolved and includes three erotic scenes. The reason for Julie’s disappearance seemed a little contrived to me, but worked for the purposes of the story. Having said that, I still enjoyed reading it. I liked the connection between Aleco and Pedro and the time they shared alone, as well as their scenes with Julie towards the end of the story.

Redwood Shifters Series

run away with meRun Away with Me (Book #1)

When Jude is offered a lift to anywhere on the back of a handsome stranger’s Harley, he throws caution to the wind and jumps on for the ride.

Jude has a boring office job in a sunny but deadly dull Californian town. The highlight of his day is sitting home alone with pizza and beer. So naturally, when Neo wants to take off into the sunset, with Jude in tow, he doesn’t argue.

Neo makes up his own rules. Deciding quickly that Jude is the mate for him, he breaks into a beautiful beachside home pretending it’s his in order to impress the sexy man he’s picked up. He’s hoping things are going to get hot and sweaty between them real quick.

But the cops are onto them, and as Neo makes a run for it, Jude is hauled off to the police station. It’s not looking good, what started out so promising has now left a bitter taste in Jude’s mouth.

Will Neo come back for him? And if so can he explain why whenever the huge black dog is around, he’s not? And can he really throw his life into the air and see where it lands? These are all questions that Jude’s mind, body and heart need to know the answer to.
